Balanced Belts (type SO)

Type SO Campbelt belts are made up of interwoven right-hand and left-hand spirals joined by wavy cross rods. This design of alternate spirals achieves equal perpendicular forces in the direction of the belt with those produced by the running of the belt on the support structure of the installation. For this reason SO belts have good tracking and offer a stable feed.

These characteristics, along with good flexibility properties, flat surface, high temperature resistance, excellent strength/weight ratio, minimal maintenance and moderate cost, have meant that this type of belt is the most widespread in friction driven applications at any range of operating temperatures.
Standard SO belts are made of slightly oval-sectioned wire spirals to offer a relatively flat surface, which is more than satisfactory for most applications due to the increased contact between belt and product.

In those applications in which an extremely flat surface is required, normally due to market requirements or product stability, we manufacture SO belts with flat spirals made up of rectangular-sectioned wire, hence increasing the belt/product contact surface. In those applications where cleanliness is the predominant factor, one can apply a non-stick teflon coated SO type belt with special support rolls. These rolls have specially designed protuberances that intermesh with the conveyor belt, thus cleaning the spaces between the spirals and cross rods, and therefore avoiding blockage.
